- Isn't this an immunosuppressant?
- At daily transplant doses, yes. Weekly low-dose protocols are a different exposure pattern, and one study actually found improved vaccine response in older adults on intermittent mTOR inhibition. It still requires monitoring and holds around infection.
- Is there human longevity data?
- Not yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. The lifespan data is preclinical. Human trials are ongoing and currently measure biomarkers and immune function rather than lifespan.
- What if I get mouth ulcers?
- It's the most common reason to adjust. We typically reduce the dose or extend the interval, which resolves it for most people.
Mouth ulcers are the most frequently reported and most often dose-limiting effect. Lipid elevation, transient GI upset and delayed wound healing also occur. We hold dosing around surgery, vaccination and any active infection.

Rapamycin inhibits mTOR, a nutrient-sensing complex that tells cells to grow and divide when energy is abundant.
Suppressing mTOR shifts cells toward maintenance mode: autophagy increases, and damaged proteins and organelles get recycled instead of accumulating.
